The Class 1 state quarterfinal matchups are set in the 2025 Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association playoffs after first round action concluded Wednesday. Here is a recap of the action:

Howell United 9, Clayton 6

Aidan Tobey and Landen Mouser scored twice and Ian Cunningham made nine saves to lead No. 8 Howell United to an opening round victory over No. 9 Clayton. Brady Holtgrewe collected eight ground balls and Cunningham and Ryan Wessler added five for a Warriors’ team that surrendered six or fewer goals for the ninth time.

Howell (8-7), which avenged a 11-6 playoff loss to Clayton from last season, advanced to the quarterfinal round to face No. 1 seed Wentzville (11-5) at 7 p.m. Friday at Heartland Park.

Ladue 12, Webster Groves 5

Charlie Goldstein, Lathan Levy and Andy Schulte scored two goals apiece in helping Ladue win its third consecutive game. Schulte added four assists and Marcus Goebel made nine saves as the Rams (5-10) continued their late season surge, rebounding from a 1-9 record over their first 10 games.

No. 7 Ladue, which had nine players score goals and 11 players collect multiple ground balls, will travel to No. 2 seed Parkway South (8-7) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Vianney 8, Republic 3

Devin Hobson, Dominic Van Cardo and Chuck Young each scored twice to help Vianney break a six-game losing streak. Vianney (5-11) gained an advantage in possession time thanks to 15 ground balls from Jackson Masson and 11 from Owen Dill.

Sam Ottinger made four saves to help the Griffins surrender their lowest goal total against an MSLA team since an 18-0 shutout of Clayton in 2021.

No. 6 Vianney travels to No. 3 John Burroughs at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

Summit 11, O’Fallon 2

Summit (7-9) survived a 22-save performance from O’Fallon senior goalie Brodey Durbin to defeat the Panthers and advance to a Class 1 quarterfinal. The Falcons led 4-1 at halftime before scoring seven times in the second half to break the game open.

The No. 5 Falcons will look to return to the Class 1 final four, a spot they last reached in 2022, when they travel to No. 4 Seckman at 7 p.m. Friday.
