United goalkeeper Liv Cenatiempo and Lindbergh senior midfielder Ava Kientzy earned the distinction of 2024 Player-of-the-Year in their respective Suburban conferences.

Cenatiempo, a senior, won the honor in the Suburban Green conference by backstopping United Field Hockey to eight wins, including a first-round playoff victory over Webster Groves. Cenatiempo, who earned seven shutouts, placed second in the STL-metro area with 197 saves, including 32 against Lindbergh, 24 against Lafayette and 20 against Parkway West.

She also placed third in the area in save percentage with a mark of .868.

“Liv has a resilient attitude and just a natural athleticism, strength and grace,” United coach Julie Murphy said of her award-winning goalie.

United also claimed the Offensive Player of the Year in the Suburban Green conference with junior Julia Burditt earning the honor. Burditt scored eight goals and added four assists while notching game-winning goals against Edwardsville, Pattonville and Notre Dame.

Oakville senior Katie Lato took home Defensive Player of the Year honors. Lato helped the Tigers go 8-6-1 and yield only 10 goals in 12 regular season games.

Lindbergh senior Ava Kientzy earned Player of the Year in the Suburban Red conference. She scored 13 goals and added five assists, helping the Flyers achieve a 13-5-1 record and No. 8 seed in the Midwest Field Hockey Tournament. Kientzy set program records for career goals (34), career points (79) and career game-winning goals (8).

Flyers’ teammate Cosima Smith earned the Suburban Red Defensive Player of the Year award. She led a defensive effort that saw Lindbergh shut out nine opponents and surrender only 18 goals in 19 games.
