Has there ever been a more talented second team? This group of 11 players, sponsored by Athletic Republic, raised their game to another level and helped guide their teams to outstanding seasons.

Forwards:

Mia Ryan, junior, St. Joseph’s

Led the Angels with 10 goals, including second half game-winners against Ladue and MICDS. She also contributed 10 assists while seamlessly changing positions from midfielder to forward. A clutch late-game performer, Ryan has six career postseason goals, including a pair of dramatic game-winners. She will play at Indiana University.

Lydia Brown, sophomore, MICDS

Scored 18 goals and added 18 assists in an explosive MICDS offense that averaged 4.24 goals per game. She found the cage in 14 different games and netted the game-winner four times helping the Rams earn the No. 1 seed in the state tournament and a second consecutive state semifinal berth.

Emily Williams, sophomore, Lafayette

Scored 29 goals and added 19 assists to earn Suburban Yellow Conference-Offensive Player-of-the-Year honors. After scoring two goals as a freshman, Williams exploded onto the scene, contributing 40 percent of the goals scored by the Lancers. She had five hat tricks and helped Lafayette reach the state quarterfinals with six postseason goals.

Midfielders:

Ellemieke Ferguson, junior, MICDS

Compiled 17 goals, 17 assists and four game-winners to help MICDS earn the No. 1 seed in the state tournament. She scored the overtime game-winner against Villa Duchesne and delivered the Rams’ first goal in a 2-1 victory over John Burroughs to hand the Bombers their only loss of the season. Ferguson will play at Boston College.

Lylah Kaminski, senior, St. Joseph’s

Scored eight goals, added seven assists and controlled the defensive center of the field for the state runner-up Angels. A brilliant defender on corners, Kaminski also shined offensively with a playoff hat trick in the state quarterfinal and the 1v1 game-winner in the state semifinal. She will play at the University of Louisville.

Annie Tilghman, junior, Ladue

Scored 20 goals and added 16 assists for the Rams, helping them reach a second consecutive state quarterfinal. She netted five goals during a Gateway Classic pool championship and used her outstanding speed and vision to produce multiple-point performances in 15 of Ladue’s 22 games.

Lauren Pelikan, sophomore, Villa Duchesne

Scored eight goals and added 14 assists in a defensive-midfield role for the Saints. Pelikan provided the insert for a productive, offensive corner unit while closing off the circle on defense. Her two-way excellence helped Villa Duchesne win at least 14 games for the 16th consecutive season. She will play at Michigan State.

Defense:

Melia Saffold, sophomore, Ladue

A defensive save master, Saffold paused many premature celebrations with her quickness and stickwork near the goal line. The Rams center defender used aerials and big hits to alleviate pressure and contributed four assists to help Ladue earn 16 wins and, No. 5 state ranking and a state quarterfinal appearance.

Caroline Campbell, junior, Westminster

Recognized nationally as a top-150 player in the class of 2027 by MAX Field Hockey, Campbell excelled defensively while providing six goals and 13 assists for the Wildcats. The three-year starter and team captain helped Westminster overcome a 2-8-1 start to win five of its final nine games.

Lauren Hagan, junior, Villa Duchesne

The rock of the Saints’ defensive corps, Hagan won a huge percentage of one-on-one battles in the open field against the area’s top forwards. She helped Villa Duchesne yield just four goals over the final eight games and excelled throughout the postseason, while adding a playoff goal against Summit.

Avery Etling, sophomore, Cor Jesu

A leader on a young Chargers’ squad with only four seniors, Etling excelled at block tackling and defensive corner pursuit. Cor Jesu was shut out nine times, forcing Etling and the defense to be almost flawless, which they were in 1-0 victories over Lindbergh, Ursuline and St. Dominic twice.

Goalie:

Amelia Mackin, senior, MICDS

Led the St. Louis region with an .875 save percentage while making 147 saves and participating in 13 shutouts. Mackin surrendered more than two goals in a game twice – a 4-3 victory over Villa Duchesne and a 30-save performance against Kentucky state champion Louisville-Sacred Heart, which finished the season 28-0-1. She will play lacrosse at Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
